Whether it be climbing the windswept mountain peaks,
hiking long distance trails trough wild landscape or taking coastal
rambles, Wicklow will capture your spirit.

The Wicklow Mountains are the largest mountainous area in Ireland
and offer great natural diversity. The total area of County Wicklow
is about 2023 square kilometres (781 square miles). From sea level
on the east coast, the land rises to the majestic Wicklow mountain
range, which occupies the whole centre of the county and stretches
well outside its borders into the neighbouring counties. The highest
peak, Lugnaquillia, at 925 metres (3039 feet) is among the four
tallest mountains in Ireland and there are over twenty other summits
in Wicklow above 610 metres (2000 feet).
The routes in Wicklow are generally uncrowded, so that it is a
pleasure to meet and chat to other walkers. The local people are
friendly, hospitable and helpful. Walk into any pub or ask for directions
along the way and you will likely find yourself deep in chat - a
welcome that is still fresh and unaffected.
"Keep close to Nature's heart...and break
clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week
in the woods. Wash you spirit clean."
John Muir, Naturalist, Writer, Conservationist
